LabCulture Symposium at Tate Modern
Art, Lifestyle
and Globalisation
Starr Auditorium
Saturday 7 April, 14.00–18.00
This symposium focuses on the growing
complexity of the art business
and its relationship to globalisation. At a time when huge lifestyle
changes are taking place, how is the art community responding? Can
artists retain a critical perspective on global issues? Why are so
many corporations rebranding themselves around lifestyle? How are
artists working within the globalised economy and how are they
perceived by corporations?
Art, Lifestyle and Globalisation includes
lively debate and open
dialogue with invited speakers, including Tim Kindberg
(Senior
Researcher HP Labs, Bristol, Visiting Professor,University
of Bath),
Jemima Rellie (Head of Digital Programmes at Tate Modern)
and John
Jordan (Independent artist, member of Notes from Nowhere
Collective
and founder of the Reclaim the Streets Movement).
