"Site Crew"

“Site Crew” is a ten minute documentary film made with a group of young new age travellers aged from 8 – 18. The young people worked with filmmakers Peter Snelling and James Price to document the daily routine of their lives and talk about their hopes and aspirations for the future.  Despite their unpredictable circumstances, these are 21st century teenagers with attitudes, opinions and dreams like any other teenager, expressed frankly in this compelling film.

Sally Rawles of Dorset Traveller Education Service says of the film “The end result is a high quality final product that the young people can be proud of and that an audience can engage with, a film that is honest, striking and involving for a non-traveller audience that will be suitable for use in schools and the wider community as an awareness-raising tool.”

This documentary is a glimpse into the lives of young new age travellers.  It is their story in their own words.  We see how different their lives are from the average teenager but also how their hopes and aspirations are not so different.  We have already shown this film to several young people (apart from the filmmakers themselves) and their comments have been remarkably similar.  They are amazed at the skills that the young travellers have in order to look after themselves, but are equally surprised at how similar the travellers are to themselves.
